Howdy

The fraternity house I lived in during college has a long history of strange happenings. Many of the occurences took place before I entered school, but many occured while I lived in the house.
The fraternity house was an actual house (unlike the dorm type houses at many larger schools) that housed 14 people. The house had two stories and a basement. All of the bedrooms were in the basement and on the second floor. Most of the "occurences" happened in two of the rooms on the second floor.
During one summer quarter around 1980, only two people were living in the house. Both were staying up late studying for finals when one of them decided to walk to a convenience store down the street. The brother that remained in the house was picked up and forcibly pushed into a corner of the bedroom. He felt as if hot air (or breath) was being blown over him. In a moment, he was able to move and ran downstairs and out of the house. While standing in the front yard, he heard a voice within the house asking him to come back inside. He never went back into the house. He eventually quit the fraternity .
Around the same time a few of the brothers were down in the basement (where the bar was) drinking a few beers. They suddenly heard a voice at the top of the stairs say "Howdy!". They called out for this "person" to come on down. A moment later they heard the voice again say, "Howdy!". Thinking that someone was trying to mess with them, they ran up the stairs only to find the room empty. This is made a little more remarkable by the fact that no one could be heard leaving the house (it was impossible to move around that house without making alot of noise - lots of creaks and groans). The ghost in the house was then given the name "Howdy" as a result.
During the time I lived in the house, the person that lived in the room of the first occurence noted above had a few strange experiences. One night he was awoken by a noise in his room. He leaned up in bed and saw his refrigerator door opening and closing by itself. In an amazing display of self control, he said, "Alright Howdy, quit f**king with me!". At this point, the refrigerator door stopped moving.
This same person, woke up one spring morning to find it extremely cold in his room. It was cold enough that he could see his breath. The odd thing was that it was relatively warm outside (much warmer than his room).
One time, for three nights in a row, this same person and one of the people who lived in the room right across the hall would wake up, get out of bed and open their doors at the same time. Even stranger is the fact that they claimed to have had the same dream before awakening.
One of the brothers stayed in the house over Christmas break alone. He slept in the room across the hall noted above. He woke up one night and found himself pinned to the bed and unable to move. He also felt the feeling that hot air was being blown over him. He, too, was able to move in a few moments and ran down and spent the remainder of the break sleeping in the TV room.
Although many other things have happened in the house, I will only relate one more story. Late one night, a bunch of us were watching "The Exorcist". At one point in the movie, the young girl (played by Linda Blair) was asked the name of her "imaginary" friend (the demon that ended up possessing her). She replied, "Captain Howdy". One of the brothers with us that night had been in the basement when the original "Howdy" episode happened. When I looked over at him, he was as white as a ghost.
